About Us

Event Scents LLC is a small, independently owned & operated company that prides itself on finding & providing you with the best quality fragrance systems, products and services that are available today.  We strive to give you the best customer service that you will find anywhere, and will meet your needs & requirements 100% of the time.  We have over 40 years combined knowledge, experience and expertise in the service industry.  Blah, Blah, Blah.  Doesn't really say much about "us", huh?  Actually, it sounds like a lot of other boring "About Us" pages from companies that don't tell you much about them at all, right?  Okay, let's see if we can do this a bit better ...

Why are you in business?

Let me start by telling you why we didn't go into business and start this company.  We didn't do this to become the next big global company.  We didn't do this to make gobs & gobs of money for producing nothing of concrete value.  We didn't do this to put our names up in lights, stroke our egos and have people falling down at our feet all the while being inundated with speaking requests.  Although many businesses are started for these and numerous other reasons, none of it applies to us.

We have learned a lot in our years of working for others, from Mom & Pop small companies to Fortune 500 global corporations, from stocking the warehouse shelves to holding senior executive positions that were responsible for tens of millions of $$'s.  We have tried to retain the good ideas & values we have gathered along the way and incorporate them into our business, all the while staying away from the negative components that we were exposed to and that can destroy a business.  We started our business so that we could work with those that share our values and ideals, in a company where we all share in the risks and rewards.  We are a smaller company and intend on remaining a smaller company ... we believe it allows us to be more flexible and responsive to your needs and requests.

If at the end of each day, week, month & year we have been able to pay our bills, give back to our community and those around us, and have fun doing it all then we consider ourselves to be a successful business.  And that is why we started this company.

Who are you people?

Everyone that works here in any type of role, whether it be full-time, part-time or on a contracted basis, considers themselves as part of a family.  Not in the traditional sense of the word, mind you, but in the extended-but-not-related sense of the word.  We have known each other and worked together for years.  We have taken care of each other's children & pets & houses during illness and absence.  We are all self-driven to do the best thing in any given circumstance, and to place our customer's needs and satisfaction at the top of our priorities.  We are passionate about our jobs, and we are passionate about the products & services that we provide to you.

We stay late to get your order out the door today and delivered to you on-time because that is what we committed to do.  We will answer your phone calls and return your emails in a timely and professional manner, not because we have to but because we want to.  We love the questions we get from you, our customers, and we love your challenges even more!  We make each other laugh (a lot) and we make each other cry (a little).  We hang out together at nights and on weekends, shooting pool or playing softball or cooking dinners.

And yes, we are competitive.  We hate to fail or lose, and we love to win!

No, I mean who are you?

Oh, you mean me?  Sorry.  My name is Pat ... or Patrick, or PJ, or PHarder (though I didn't really care for that nickname in junior high school), or you can usually get my attention by just yelling "Hey You!" in my general direction.  I am the President and co-founder of the company with my wife of 18+ years Michelle and our dog Comet.  Okay, Comet's role in the company is a bit more ceremonial that actual but that's only because he doesn't have any opposable thumbs and therefore can't type very well.  Comet, like our 2 dogs that preceded him, is a rescued pound dog with a mutt pedigree that dates back hundreds of years.

Michelle made me promise not to say much about her since she is somewhat of a private person, so I'll tell you some tidbits about me and my life.  Back in 1972, when I was 8 years old, I set a record in the half-mile run that was never broken -- and never will be since they changed over to the metric system!  Aahhh, immortality.  After many long years away from running I took it back up a couple years ago, and have completed 3 half-marathons since late 2008 with plans to run my first full marathon in October 2010 ... wish me luck!

I grew up living all over the Northwest ... Spokane, Boise, Anchorage, Pullman, Seattle, Portland & Vancouver ... and developed an unending love for the natural beauty that once can find there.  I have been fortunate to have been able to travel to many places around the world for both work and pleasure, but more so I have been able to visit almost every state here in the good old USA with only 4 left to get to in order to join the 50-State Club (does anyone know if one exists, and if so is the t-shirt cool?).

I love to hear how we are doing and if you would like to drop me a line personally you can by emailing me at pat@eventscentsllc.com.  I believe and trust that you will find us to be a good company to work with and to buy from, one that truly cares about your satisfaction, and we all thank you for your business from the bottom of our hearts.
